CLIFF HAGAN BOYS & GIRLS CLUB ORG. RECEIVES BUILDING COMMUNITY FUND GRANT FROM PAPA JOHNS FOUNDATION!
Funding from this grant will go towards advancing programs and resources that focus on youth leadership, entrepreneurship and food insecurity.
Cliff Hagan Boys & Girls Club organization is excited to announce that it has been awarded a $5,000.00 grant from the Papa Johns Foundation’s Building Community Fund. This funding will help us take CAREERLAUNCH to the next level by combining this program with VR career exploration software from Transfr. CAREERLAUNCH is BGCA’s premier job-readiness and career preparation program that offers a variety of activities to hone teens’ decision-making, problem-solving and critical-thinking skills. Once our members are in the program, they can be introduced to Transfr. Transfr is an immersive career exploration program that simulates unique opportunities and benefits for reaching our members in any location with experiences that may be expensive or impossible to replicate where they are.
This kind of opportunity can be life-changing for a young person unsure of what to do for a career. Our members can sample virtual work experiences in automotive, manufacturing, electrical work, healthcare and a variety of other fields. The two programs combined gives our youth the chance to explore various careers based on their interests and talents, helps them determine the corresponding educational path they need to pursue, and guides them in mapping out a plan for their future.

We plan to provide this program to our Club members aged 11-18 years old. This program will combine CAREERLAUNCH and/or Transfr sessions to all participants. They will first learn what both programs are, find a field that interests them, and map out a plan of how to achieve this goal. The second step, they will visit local industry leaders based on their interests and see the similarities between VR and the real field. Lastly CAREERLAUNCH will help them explore resume building skills, how to fill out job applications, mock interviews, job shadowing, and first-hand training opportunities in real life. Our goals are to help put our Club members on the right track to finding a career path that interests them, provide them with the knowledge and skillsets 21st century workplaces are needing, and provide eager workforce members of society. If we accomplish this, we hope to combat the American education crisis and decline of young people in the workforce.
“Thanks to the generous support from the Papa Johns Foundation, we can offer more of our members the opportunity to participate in CAREERLAUNCH and Transfr and develop crucuial leadership skills,” stated Ryan Bibb, COO of CHBGC organization. ” This funding will ensure the program remains accessible and ensure that our members have access to the tools and experiences they need to succeed as young leaders.”
