Celebrating Community, Leadership, and Great Futures:

Our 43rd Annual Steak & Burger Dinner will be more than an event- it will be a celebration of community, achievement, and the young people who inspire our mission every day. Our event will be held on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, this evening will bring together Club members, supporters and partners, and local leaders for one of our most cherished traditions. From the moment our doors open at 5:00PM CST, guests will be welcomed into an atmosphere filled with excitement, gratitude, and purpose.

A Night of Connection, Purpose, and Great Food

Thanks to our incredible friends at LongHorn Steakhouse, our guests will enjoy a fantastic meal that has become a hallmark of our Steak & Burger tradition. We are deeply grateful to our title sponsor, Independence Bank, and to all of our Owensboro Impact Heroes and Supporters whose generosity makes this event possible year after year. The funds raised from this event will fuel our Academic Success and Health & Well-Being programs. This will ensure our Club members have the tools they need to thrive!

Honoring a Tradition of Excellence: Hank Plona

For more than 4 decades, our Steak & Burger Dinner has featured an impressive lineup of speakers from sports legends like Johnny Bench, Tom Izzo and Dan Issel, to community icons and leads such as Jacob Tamme, Wesley Woodyard and Dwane Casey. This year, we are honored to welcome Hank Plona, WKU Head Men’s Basketball Coach, as our distinguished guest speaker.

Coach Plona’s story embodies resilience, leadership, and the power of investing in young people. His coaching journey from Providence College to South Plains, Indian Hills and ultimately WKU reflects a career built on hard work and heart. Plona helped lead Indian Hills to 8 consecutive ICCAC regular-season titles and the NJCAA National Tournament 7 times! His message to our audience will be one of perseverance, mentorship, and believing in the potential of every young person.

Celebrating the Daviess County 12U Softball Team

One of the most inspiring moments of the evening will be honoring our National Runner-Up Daviess County 12U Softball Team. They are a group of talented young athletes who captured not only our community’s hearts but the nation’s! These ladies’ accomplishments speak for themselves:

Event Registration

Here are some fantastic ways that you can support our youth at the Cliff Hagan Boys & Girls Club Mike Horn Unit for this year’s Steak & Burger Dinner! See below for all of our opportunities and ticket info:

1) Attend the event by purchasing individual tickets. Individual ticket(s) are $100 each for guests. WKU Alumni can purchase an individual ticket for $75 each. Please reach out to Kalie Lashbrook if you are a parent of the Daviess County 12U Softball Team.

2) Attend the event by purchasing a corporate table. (1) table includes 4 tickets is $375. (2) tables that includes 8 tickets total is $700.

3) Make a donation to the Cliff Hagan Boys & Girls Club Mike Horn Unit. Click here to see all the ways you can donate today!

$25 will provide 1 youth with a full year membership to the CHBGC Mike Horn Unit
