Marching Into Spring: Celebrating Growth, Community, and Impact at the Boys & Girls Club of Butler County

As we move through the first quarter of 2026, the Boys & Girls Club of Butler County is buzzing with energy, gratitude, and momentum. From successful fundraisers to staff spotlights to exciting program updates, this month’s newsletter reflects the heart of our mission — empowering young people and strengthening the community that surrounds them.

A Slam-Dunk Success: March Gladness Recap

This year’s March Gladness event, hosted by Cool Springs General Baptist Church, was nothing short of incredible. Thanks to the generosity of participants and the support of Modern Woodmen, the event raised a total of $10,000 for our Club — a tremendous boost for the youth we serve.

We’re proud to congratulate:

  • Winning Team: Justin Castlin, Briar Griffin, and Trevor Deweese
  • Hotshot Winner: Talon Hampton

Every shot taken, every cheer, and every contribution helped make this event a success. We’re deeply grateful to Cool Springs and everyone who showed up to support our mission.

Staff Spotlight: Celebrating the Heart of Our Club

This month, we’re shining a well‑deserved spotlight on two incredible staff members from our North Butler School Site:

  • Ms. Breanna Howard — A dedicated team member for three years, Breanna began as a Youth Development Professional and has grown into the role of Unit Director. Her leadership and passion make a lasting impact on our members every day.
  • Mrs. Gina McCrocklin — For the past year and a half, Gina has brought warmth, consistency, and creativity to her role as a Youth Development Professional. Her connection with the kids is truly special.

Both Breanna and Gina spend the school year at North Butler and transition to the Town Site during the summer — and our members absolutely adore them. We are incredibly fortunate to have such caring, committed leaders shaping the futures of our youth.

Quarterly Club Update: A Strong Start to 2026

The new year has brought fresh faces, new partnerships, and renewed excitement across both of our sites. We’ve welcomed several new members and expanded our community connections, helping us strengthen our programs and deepen our impact.

Our Alliance Programs — SMART Moves, Positive Action, KY Kids, and Teen Workforce — are wrapping up for the season, and we’re proud of the growth our members have shown. As we complete final reporting to the state, we’re already looking ahead to what’s next.

Planning for our Summer Program is officially underway. Families can stay tuned to our Facebook page for updates on sign‑ups, pricing, and hours. With the enthusiasm we’re seeing from our members, 2026 is shaping up to be a fantastic year.

Community Support in Action: Meet the Candidates Event

A huge thank‑you goes out to Granville Allen VFW Post #5837 for hosting the Meet the Candidates event on February 28. This gathering brought in $1,300 for our Club and gave community members a chance to connect with local leaders. We appreciate every candidate who participated and everyone who helped make the event meaningful.
